WEST BANGKA -- PT Timah Tbk is part of the history of Muntok City, West Bangka Regency. Welcoming the 288th anniversary of Muntok City on 7 September, the West Bangka Arts Council held the Mentok Art Festival.
One of the Mentok Art Festival's agenda is the Muntok cultural and historical photo exhibition which will be held on 4-11 September 2022 at the Court of the Indonesian Tin Museum (MTI) Muntok.
In addition to photos of the history and culture of the city of Muntok, ancient objects, and historical photos of the founding of the Muntok Indonesian Tin Smelter will also be displayed in the photo exhibition.
Not only that, but MTI Muntok will also be the location of various activities to commemorate the anniversary of Muntok City, namely an art market, wannabe night festival, film screening and discussion of the film 'Ketangen', Literary Discussion 'Losing Mestika', theater performances, and drawing competitions.
The Documentation and Publication Section of the West Bangka Arts Council, Silo Sandro, explained that PT Timah Tbk is part of the history of the city of Muntok. So this exhibition will also show the history of tin smelting.
"As we all know that in Muntok city there is a history of tin, one of which is the establishment of the first tin smelter in Indonesia. The presence of PT Timah has also supported the development of Muntok city until now," said Silo, Monday (5/9/2022)
He continued, in this photo exhibition, several photo collections were obtained from the Muntok Metallurgical Unit such as historical photos of the establishment of Tin Smelting, photos of garden production, worship buildings, and gates.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Arts Council and Secretary of the West Bangka Tourism and Culture Office, Bambang Haryo Suseno, explained that several activities were held at the Timah Muntok Museum.
"To coincide with the 288th Anniversary of Muntok City, the West Bangka Arts Council held the Mentok Art Festival with various activities," he said.
The series of activities are; the Cultural Photo Exhibition (4-11 September), Art Market (4-11 September), Wannabe Next Festival (5 September), Film Screening and Discussion of Karyx Fim "Ketangen" (7 September), Literature Discussion (8 September), Theater Performance ( 9 September), Dance Performance (10 September), and Drawing Competition (11 September).
