EAST BELITUNG - To improve the enthusiasm and skills of karate athletes in East Belitung Regency, PT Timah Tbk in collaboration with East Belitung Forki held the East Belitung Regent's Championship CUP V 2021.
Head of the Karate Championship Organizing Committee, Fitri Zakia said that the Regents Cup event was to revive the spirit of karate athletes, after previously being vacuumed, because Regent Cup 4 was held in 2013.
"This championship finally ends in providing an opportunity for athletes to measure their limited abilities in East Belitung, so we are working on the 5th East Belitung Regent's Cup event for the entire Belitong island," said Fitri Zakia.
According to Fitri, the East Belitung Regent Cup 5 event is a medium for prospective athletes for East Belitung to focus "on the track", because the emerging paradigm in East Belitung is minimal events.
So they present a new image, that Forki has bounced back and cares about athletes to increase the capacity of Beltim athletes.
"So we prepare them for ongoing events, as well as to encourage universities in East Belitung to more optimally develop universities, develop their networks and athletes to compete," he explained.
Fitri said that 300 athletes took part in the Regent East Belitung Cup 5 event, with a total of 8 contingents with 42 classes being competed.
"We give funds from PT Timah for coaching, so we give appreciation to athletes who won 1st to 3rd places, bonus money for best of the best, to motivate athletes to be more enthusiastic about practicing," he explained.
He is grateful for the assistance of PT Timah Tbk, PT Timah Tbk has supported this activity. They see many partners who care about sports, but PT Timah Tbk has always consistently provided support in the socio-cultural aspect in improving human resources.
"We thank PT Timah Tbk, and are grateful that PT Timah Tbk continues to concentrate not only on physical development, but also non-physical development such as human resources, because it is a long-term investment for us in development," he said.*
