WEST BANGKA -- The production of waste every year continues to increase along with the increase in population. If not managed properly, waste can cause ongoing problems.

In commemoration of the Peak of the National Waste Care Day in 2022, PT Timah Tbk supports the mutual assistance activity initiated by the West Bangka Regency Government by cleaning up trash which was carried out along Batu Rakit Beach, Monday (21/2/2022).

Previously, PT Timah Tbk also supported the Garbage Care Camp which was held at Kolong Edukasi Cepakek, Air Limau village. Where this activity involving students and village officials is an education about waste management.

In waste management, PT Timah Tbk through the Muntok Metallurgical Unit carries out several programs, for example in collaboration with the Waste Bank KSM, agreed to educate students on waste management and use waste to become economically valuable.

In addition, PT Timah Tbk also established an Integrated Agro-Independent Kampong or Kampong Amoi which was held in Tanjung Village and Air Putih Village, West Bangka Regency.

Through Kampong Amoi, PT Timah Tbk empowers the community to use household waste into compost which is integrated with the breeding and chicken farming program.

PT Timah Tbk's commitment to waste management in West Bangka Regency was appreciated by the Regent of West Bangka, Sukirman. He assessed that environmental management including waste must be carried out together so that it can have an impact on the community.

"PT Timah is extraordinary. Thank you to PT Timah for contributing tremendously to regional development in West Bangka with CSR. Today PT Timah Tbk also supports the activities of the National Waste Day," said Sukirman.

On this occasion, he also invited the community to optimize waste management. So that later, the waste will also have an economic impact on the community.

"Let's start with our own wisdom in managing waste. This waste has economic value if it is managed, the environment is clean, it can also support tourism, because tourism is synonymous with cleanliness and beauty," he explained.

One of the waste clean-up participants, Kicoi, admitted that the commemoration of the National Garbage Awareness Day should be made for us to love the surrounding environment.

"Through this garbage clean-up activity on the National Waste Awareness Day, we realize that we need to love the environment. Because clean is healthy, clean is beautiful, if everything is clean, everyone will want to visit," said Kicoi. *
