EAST BELITUNG - To celebrate the 94th youth oath day in 2022 which falls on October 28, 2022, PT TIMAH Tbk is supporting the bamboo raft rowing competition in Mempaya Village, Damar Belitung Timur District, Thursday (27/10/2022)
Mampaya Village held a bamboo raft rowing competition in commemoration of the 2022 Youth Pledge Day which was held at Embung Mempayak.
"Hopefully it will be a momentum for the youth of Mempaya Village to unite to build the village," said the head of the Mempaya Village, Yulidarta.
The man who is often called Darta said this competition was very popular with the public. The raft rowing competition was held in two classes, namely male and female with around 100 pairs of participants.
"We will schedule this competition every year to commemorate the Youth Pledge Day or commemorate the Indonesian Independence Day," he said.
According to Darta, this activity is fully supported by PT TIMAH Tbk so this activity can run smoothly.
"Alhamdulillah, the proposal that we submitted to PT TIMAH Tbk received a very good response so we can carry out this activity," he explained.
He hopes that PT TIMAH Tbk will continue to support local wisdom conservation activities that can become a tourist attractions.
"We hope for support from various parties to support this activity, especially from PT TIMAH Tbk so that we can carry out this activity and in the future, it can become a community tourism activity," he hoped.
Meanwhile, Acting Camat Damar Arief Firmansyah said the raft competition in Mempaya Village is a routine agenda that is usually held in Mempaya Village every year.
However, since the Mempaya lake has been repaired and built infrastructure after the 2017 disaster, these routine activities have stopped being held.
"This year, Alhamdulillah, the raft competition was held again, but with a different moment, namely to welcome the 2022 Youth Pledge Day," said Arief.
According to Arief, the activity was initiated by the Mempaya Village Youth Organization together with the Mempaya Village Government.
He explained that the raft competition is one of the cultural treasures in Damar and Mempaya Village. Because philosophically, apart from being a form of sport, it is also a form of community cohesiveness and cooperation that characterizes the Damar community.
Therefore, he as the acting sub-district head of Damar appreciates the support of PT TIMAH Tbk so that the raft competition activity in Mempaya Village can be carried out.
"With the support of PT TIMAH Tbk, it means that PT TIMAH Tbk also supports in preserving culture in Mempaya Village, Damar District," he said.
