In addition to reclamation on the company's ex-mining land, PT Timah Tbk also plays a role in supporting environmental conservation by stakeholders.
Environmental preservation efforts carried out by PT Timah Tbk in West Bangka Regency include planting mangroves. Mid-January-September 2022, PT Timah Tbk planted mangroves six times in West Bangka Regency.
Mangrove planting locations were carried out on Tanjung Pakdan Beach, Teluk Rubiah Beach, Sungai Baru Beach, on the coast of Belo Laut Beach, on the West Bangka Coast, and in Benteng Kota Village.
In carrying out mangrove planting, PT Timah Tbk cooperates with community groups, youth groups, Gapoktan and fishermen to get involved in environmental management efforts.
In addition, PT Timah Tbk supports tree planting activities on critical ex-mining lands carried out by the government and the community. Among other things, PT Timah Tbk participated in planting trees in the Jenu Tanjung Protected Forest with the West Bangka Police.
PT Timah Tbk also supports the Babelku Green Blue Program promoted by the Babel Provincial Government by participating in planting in the Air Kahar Foot Menumbing Area.
PT Timah Tbk is also involved in the 1000 tree reforestation movement with Forkopimda. In addition, in commemoration of World Water Day, the Government of West Bangka Regency together with PT. Timah carried out planting activities for Gelam trees and Seruk trees in the area of ??Raw Water Source Terabik Branch, Belo Laut Village. In addition, in commemoration of the TNI's anniversary, PT Timah Tbk also participated in the reforestation of critical land in the hamlet of Daya Baru Belo Laut.
West Bangka Regent H.Sukirman appreciates PT Timah in terms of environmental conservation and supports environmental conservation activities carried out by the Government and the community.
"PT Timah has shown its commitment to environmental conservation, such as planting mangroves, participating in supporting the green and blue of Babelku, both by the West Bangka government and the provincial government, and others," said Sukirman.
"This is a form of synergy between PT Timah and Forkopimda in terms of preserving and saving the environment," he continued.
Similarly, Muntok Sukandi Sub-district Head said that apart from planting trees, PT Timah Tbk also often helps facilities and infrastructure to protect the environment.
The facilities assisted by PT Timah Tbk include the assistance of a three-wheeled car to transport garbage in Rubiah Bay.
"In addition to planting trees in Muntok, in the environmental sector, PT Timah is quick to respond to community requests, such as providing assistance with heavy equipment and transport cars to clean up garbage at the Kuteseribu TPU," he said.
